Cabri Search Fields

Unique Identifier

The Unique Identifier field contains the unique identifiers of each catalogue e.g. accession number.

Accession numbers are indexed as complete entities. Thus to find the accession number e.g. LMG 12345 it is necessary to include the LMG part of the number as well as the number itself, i.e. searching for 12345 alone will not produce a valid result (unless using a wildcard of course).

In some cases, this field will also search for Accession Numbers used in other collections.

It includes for each database :-

Name

When searching on a name, checking the "Include synonyms of Name in search" checkbox and then searching will perform a preliminary search of that name on a database of synonyms. If it is found that the name entered is in fact a synonym (or, in the case of fungi, an alternate state or a synonym of an alternate state), then the correct name will be extracted from the synonym database and included in the search along with the original term entered and any results will be returned as normal.

At present, all bacteria, yeasts and fungi catalogues, but BCCM_IHEM, have synonym data.

Upon performing a search, the name of the organism returned will contain a link to the relevant synonym database (if it has one). If a synonym is present, clicking on the link will display it, however, if no synonym information is present, the link will be an invalid one and return an error.
